A Lesson in French | My Chance Encounter with French Montana

One of the things I love about New York City is the spontaneity of it all. Earlier this week I stopped into a local Duane Reade to pick up some snacks. I gathered my selections and made my way to the cash wrap. Standing there was a 6'3" buttercream complected male with medium build, dressed in a white mandarin collared shirt and black jeans. I over heard the cashier comment to him, "you look familiar. Are you French Montana?" And the man replies, "yes." One of the associates blerts out "I knew it!" I immediately reach into my pocket for a cellphone that I had left back at my office resting quaintly on the desk connected to its charger. At this point, I am KICKING MYSELF because who's going to believe that I ran into one of the hottest rappers in the game at 4am at the local drug store??? He completed his transaction and exited with no body guard and no entourage. It was just himself and two friends walking out of the front door and hopping into an all black Escalade with all black tinted windows that was waiting patiently out front at the curbside. They settled in the car for another two minutes before taking off into the gentle night. Now I believe that everything happens for a reason, and if there's anything I've taken away from this experience, is: 1) ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS have your phone with you, even if you're just running to a corner pharmacy that's less than 3 minutes away; because you never know when you'll need to make a phone call, catch an email, or take a photo op with one of the top rappers in hip hop (I'm still kicking myself in the behind)! 2) Even if you're a super star at the top of your game, you can still be pleasant, even at 4am (He had a very cool swag about him. And he said hello to me). 3) He learns from the mistakes of his entertainment counterparts. He "wraps it up"! ;-)
