Selling Out | How Far Is Too Far?

This week The Real Housewives of Atlanta was a trending topic in entertainment when it was revealed that Phaedra Parks made false allegations against castmate Kandi Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker, accusing them of plotting to drug and sexually assault their castmate Porsha Williams. Parks failed to give reasons for making the allegations. This was truly a jawdropping accusation especially given the fact that Parks and Burress were once very good friends on the show. Even more astounding is that Parks is an attorney and as a councilman of the law, knows the severity of such remarks and the possible repercussions. In fact, Parks has her own legal practice along with a few other businesses and put them all in jeopardy for the sake of a storyline on reality television. Many people sell their souls for the sake of fame. Which in essence is just another word for popularity. They sell their dignity, their self respect, and compromise a respectable reputation for the sake of being "popular".

In all fairness, there are some people who use fame as a tool to open doors for other opportunities and then there are those who allow themselves to be used as a tool by fame. The difference between theses type of individuals is the knowledge of self and a clear understanding of what their goals are. Having these quintessential values in place will prevent you from dwindling down into a place of sheer embarrassment, utter humiliation and completely incapable of explaining and reasoning your reckless behavior all while standing in the unemployed/out of business line.

What are your thoughts? What is "selling out" in your opinion?
