Build Your Brand

November 29, 2017

Major companies regardless of the products they manufacture, package their products and tailor them to appeal to their consumer. They advertise with the key goal in mind that what ever purpose that product serves, it is the first to come to mind when the consumer is in need of that product. They spend countless time and large sums of money developing logos, taglines and pretty packaging to attract and build their clientele. For actors, it's the same concept, it just translates a little differently.

For starters, what does your social media content look like? First off, do you have a social media presence? Many actors hate social media, but whether you like it or not industry professionals expect to be able to put your name in an internet search engine and pull up content that supports your claim to be an actor. Even if you don't have a website, you should at least have a Facebook page. Secondly, does the content on your pages show you performing or at least rehearsing? If the answer is no, then how do you expect anyone in the business to take you seriously?

With resources such as YouTube, Vimeo and social media, you have the platform you need to put your talent out there. You also have the ability to build your own audience. That's how you begin building your brand. When you hear the name Revlon, you think make up, when you hear McDonalds, you think about food, when people hear your name, they should think actor!
